President Muhammadu Buhari said on Monday that ex-president Olusegun Obasanjo appointed him as Minister of Petroleum Resources and tolerated him for three years to succeed.
He said this when he visited Abeokuta, Ogun State on the occasion of 40th anniversary of the creation of the state, adding that former President Olusegun Obasanjo as military Head of State from 1976 to 1979 tolerated him as Petroleum Resources Minister.
He said, Obasanjo appointed me as Minister of Petroleum Resources and tolerated me for three years “because nobody can work as hard as Obasanjo.
With this Buhari stated that the tenure of Obasanjo in which he served as Petroleum Minister was able to build Warri and Kaduna refineries.
The president commended Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State for his developmental projects, saying the governor has now left him confused, as he could no longer identify his way around in Abeokuta, the state capital.
“My first military posting was in Abeokuta. But now if you leave me anywhere in Abeokuta, I would not know my way around. I thank Governor Amosun for these projects and for helping to confuse me.”
