Emmanuel Emenike could be heading for West Ham exit at the
end of the season as manager Slaven Bilic is being evasive about
the player’s future at the high-flying Premier League side.
Former Croatia manager Bilic signed the 28-year-old
striker on loan from Turkish outfit Fenerbahce until
the end of the season during the January transfer window, with the
Hammers having the option of making the deal permanent.
The 47-year-old
former West Ham defender had said he decided to sign the
ex-Nigeria forward, who played in Turkey and Russia when he was
managing other teams in the same leagues, because of
his versatility would be a big asset for the London side.
However, the South Africa 2013
Africa Cup of Nations winner has yet to repay Bilic’s faith as he
has scored just two goals in all competitions for the team since
his arrival at Upton Park.
Bilic appeared to have made a
U-turn on Emenike’s permanent stay at the club after he denied a clause
in the former Spartak Moscow’s striker’s contract
forcing the Hammers to sign him for €11m if he makes 10
Premier League appearances.
“It is absurd we would never
have agreed to such a clause and that the club have no obligation to sign him,”
the former Lokomotiv Moscow manager was quoted by Turkish sports newspaper Fanatik
as saying on Monday.
“Everything will become clear at
the end of the season,” he added.
The former Besiktas boss
said he would hold talks with Fenerbahce and Emenike regarding
signing the striker on a permanent transfer at the end of season.
“We will hold talks with Emenike
and Fenerbahce at the end of the season but it is too early to say if he will
stay or not it also depends on the money being asked,” Turkish Football
quoted him as saying.
However, the Mirror
reports that West Ham do not want to sign Emenike on a permanent
deal at the end of the season.
The player, who called it quits
the Super Eagles last year, spent the first half of the season on loan at Al
Ain scoring seven times in 11 appearances.
