Saraki’s Trial: CONYL Condemns Process, Says It’s Political

The Congress of Nigerian Youths Leaders, CONYL, has condemned the trial of President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki by Code of Conduct Bureau, describing it as persecution rather than prosecution.
The convener of the group, Comrade Yinka Dallas said during a news conference at the secretariat of
Nigeria Union of Journalists, Lagos State Council on Sunday that the anti-corruption war of the Federal Government was aimed at some personalities.
According to him,, the present government is aimed at personalities who are presumed not in the good books of the government, adding, “This is a sad commentary on Buhari’s anti-corruption crusade.”
He stated that the evidences in the public domain on the ongoing trial of the senate president showed beyond doubt that the CCT is being used by some vested interest in the ruling party, APC and presidency to settle cheap political scores.
The group condemned the trial, adding that the process is drawing the government backward, instead of the Executive and Legislative arms of government working in conformity toward ameliorating the sufferings of Nigerians, they are busy engaged in a cat and mouse game.
